**Sr. Failure Analysis Engineer - Full Time / Direct Hire ~ Fully Benefited**



**Mission/** **Purpose of the Job** :


_To represent the Service Technology Centre (STC) and lead the failure analysis team in undertaking the failure analysis of all products within the territory, including failure identification, root cause analysis investigation and warranty decision recommendations._


_This position acts as the conduit between the Service Technology Centre team and the Failure Analysis Manager providing correct and relevant data and information to support accurate decision making and reporting._


_Ongoing coaching and support of the Failure Analysis Engineers to deliver against the Service Technology Centre timeframes and deliver high levels of customer satisfaction, while maintaining a focus on safety and quality is also a requirement._


**Main Responsibilities** **:**


1. Responsible for leading the investigation into identifying the cause of equipment failure via root cause analysis, including accessing and interpreting the data log, failure identification material, field information, SAP, warranty test stands and strip report data. Using this information, undertakes complex problem solving and detailed analysis to understand the failure including, where necessary/available final testing.

2. Proactively identifies, investigates, and provides feedback on new failure modes and new problem processes to the Failure Analysis Manager and technical support to be used for knowledge sharing and understanding of the failure and root cause leading to an improvement of the lifetime of vacuum pumps globally.

3. Proactively seeks background information of products and processes from the Field, Onsite, Sales and Technical teams to ensure a detailed and thorough investigation into failure analysis can be conducted, whilst delivering high levels of customer satisfaction.

4. Responsible for the creation of failure reports in the strip reporting system for all products returned to the Service Technology Centre, ensuring they are accurate and approved for release to customers and delivered within agreed time schedules.

5. Reviews ad approves failure analysis reports in the failure analysis system and ensures data captured in SAP is aligned and accurate. Determines where possible, root cause symptoms and records in the failure analysis system and SAP.

6. Collates ad develops statistical reports and trend data for the Failure Analysis Manager to present to quality and engineering steering groups to use in process enhancement and to aid in informed operational decisions.

7. Leads the introduction of corrective actions to assist in the reduction of internal failure and warranty failure rates.

8. Responsible for leading and guiding the failure analysis engineers in understanding the categories of warranty claims and the importance of making the correct warranty decision when completing reports.

9. Responsible for providing correct, accurate and detailed information to the Failure Analysis Manager, Customer Centers and Business Line Managers to allow the determination of whether the warranty cost should remain within the business. Where required, raises warranty issues and supports the Customer Centers / Business Line Managers in doing so.

10. Understands the cost allocation structure and supports the Failure Analysis Manager in the management of warranty costs through accuracy and alignment of reporting, ensuring that the warranty cost allocation has been correctly assigned.

11. Coaches ad develops the skills and knowledge of the Failure Analysis Engineers to deliver detailed failure analysis to both the internal and external customer. Ensures that Failure Analysis Engineers are able to undertake level 2 reporting independently and produce accurate and detailed reports for customer review.

12. Accountable for the management and allocation of equipment, prioritization of schedule and failure analysis resources to ensure timeframes are met and work is undertaken and delivered within customer timeframes and meets expectations.

13. When required by the Failure Analysis Manager, is the external face of the Service Technology Centre, managing customer facing programs, supporting client contact on issues with products in conjunction with the Failure Analysis Manager, Customer Centers and Business Line Managers.

14. the Failure Analysis Managers absence represents and is the communication point at the Service Technology Centre when dealing with the Customer Centers, Product Companies, Business Line Managers and Technical Support teams.

15. Demonstrates a visible and active commitment to adhere to and guide others to comply with, all applicable laws, policies, and standards to ensure organizational, safety and health obligations are met


**Skills / Knowledge / Experience**


1. Previous experience within all areas of the Service Technology Centre as well as a minimum of at least 1 years supervisory/team leader experience is required

2. Must also have experience in decontamination and parts inspection; or experience in a senior technical support role

3. Solid understanding of manufacturing and service methods

4. Methodical with strong attention to detail to enable detailed failure analysis investigation, leading to fact based driven decisions when compiling failure analysis reports and understands the need for integrity when discussing failure analysis results

5. Self-directed, with the ability to handle and resolve complex and challenging problems whilst maintaining regular communication with the internal customer and escalates through the appropriate channels when required.

6. Strong customer focus to ensure delivered solutions meet expectations and timeframes

7. Proactively looks for better ways to improve efficiency, productivity and customer satisfaction

8. Able to share technical expertise and knowledge to internal customers and team members and provides coaching to less experienced team members

9. Manages and leads team members to deliver against company objectives and within committed timeframes

10. Strong project management skills to plan, priorities and delegate work in order to meet schedule

11. Understands the correct tools and techniques to aid failure analysis work, ensuring that these are used by the Failure Analysis team e.g. inspection and troubleshooting, quality tools, Pareto, 5 Whys, 5W/2H

12. Experienced in MS Office applications

13. Good written and verbal communication skills. Proficient with home country language, a basic command of written and spoken English is also required
