Kelly Engineering Resources is working with a mid-sized manufacturer of medical devices that is in the early stages of automating their manufacturing processes. Specific focus is in automating their packaging & blending operations. This has created a direct hire opportunity for a **Senior Level Mechanical Project Engineer** with **cradle to grave** project experience.



This is a great opportunity for an Engineer that likes to see the successful implementation of projects that you would design and develop.



In this highly visible role, you would report to the Director of Engineering and indirectly to the President. You will bring your proven track record designing, developing and executing capital projects in the range of $800K through $1.5 MIL



**Your essential responsibilities** as a Mechanical Project Engineer are:




+ Mechanical design, using Inventor, of the following types of machinery

+ Packaging

+ Material winding/coiling, cutting, bonding

+ Conveyors/material handling

+ Design of complete system from component level, sub-assemblies, assemblies, tooling, fixtures, machine guarding, operator safety features, etc.

+ Create engineering prints and revisions

+ Detail drawings with tolerances

+ Assembly drawings

+ Conform to DFM for sheet metal parts, machined parts, welding, fabrication and assembly.

+ Layout of equipment within the plant

+ Work with Electrical & automation engineer to develop designs, on the front end, that factors machinery controls, power supply and proposed integration with other systems.

+ Development of project timeline and budgeting

+ Work with internal and external divisions (manufacturing, purchasing, contractors, executive leadership) in developing & testing machine prototypes, procuring resources from raw materials to contractors.

+ Execute the project:

+ Leads design and prototype development

+ Participates in vendor selection

+ Leads installation of equipment

+ Commissioning & FAT



**Qualifications of the Successful Mechanical Project Engineer:**




+ Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering is required

+ Minimum of 5 years' work experience in large capital project engineering is required

+ prefer 7-10 years

+ prefer capital project values in the range of $500K- 1.5 MIL

+ Expertise in the following is required:

+ AutoCAD and either Inventor, Solidworks or Creo

+ Complete systems/ machine design, prefer packaging and conveyor/material handling experience

+ Detail & assembly drawings of subsystems and components

+ Design of tooling and fixtures

+ Working knowledge of DFM for machining, welding & fabrication, stack-ups, fittings, finishes and structural supports.

+ Building and testing of prototypes

+ Integration of new equipment with existing operations and automation, including trouble shooting issues.

+ Equipment installation including FAT and commissioning.

+ Development and adherence to project timeline and schedule

+ Verbal & written communication skills

+ Interpersonal skills to work with a vast array of individuals from labor to executive leadership



**Pluses:**




+ FDA/GMP experience (food, medical or pharmaceutical)

+ Knowledge or work experience with electrical, factory automation/controls systems or robotics.
