**Job Title: Sr. Research Associate, Sequencing Assays**


**Work Type: Temp-to-Hire, On-Site, Full-Time**


**Location: San Diego, CA**


**Job Description:**

This role will be responsible for developing and executing Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) assays to drive a wide portfolio of R&D programs. The ideal candidate will work with scientists and engineers to develop cutting-edge genomics assays and workflows to help understand and implement novel biomanufacturing processes for complex therapies. The successful candidate will be responsible for execution and primary data analysis and documentation of experiments. The individual will have a proven track record of successfully carrying out laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) independently. **_This role is for a 6-month contract with potential to extend/hire._**


**Job Responsibilities**

_(Core responsibilities; include people management if applicable):_


Working with scientists and engineers to perform molecular biology and NGS experiments (nucleic acid purification, quantification and library preparation)

Track new techniques and technologies in the field of sequencing technologies, e.g., single cell sequencing (RNA-seq, DNA-seq)

Prepare presentations highlighting experimental data, relevant scientific topics and techniques

Help develop and pilot new laboratory protocols and SOPs

Maintain clear documentation of experimental setup, reagents used, and data generated using best practices and electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN)

Assist in organizing ELN contents and laboratory information management systems (LIMS) contents

Perform routine laboratory operations: order and organize laboratory supplies, coordinate cell line management, track research team laboratory trainings

Deliver project goals by participating in Agile activities, including scrum team meetings, feedback sessions, ideation and story mapping


**Qualifications**

B.S or M.S. in a biology-related field (e.g., molecular biology, genetics, synthetic biology, immunology, bioengineering)

3+ years of wet lab experience including operating scientific instrumentation such as thermocyclers, fluorescent microscopes, and gel electrophoresis systems

Experience in bacterial and mammalian cell culture systems and trained in aseptic technique

Demonstrated ability to be highly productive in a fluid, fast-paced and teamwork environment


**Preferred Experience**

_(Education/Degrees/Certifications):_


Experience in designing DNA and RNA sequences (plasmid maps, primers, guide RNA, siRNA, sequencing libraries)

Experience with current and next-gen automation systems and bioinformatics

Experience in preparing, running, and analyzing plate-based continuous and end-point functional assays

Experience in interfacing with laboratory automation (e.g., automated liquid handlers) and data analysis software
