**BIOTECHNOLOGY SUPERVISOR - DURHAM, NC**



Kelly Scientific is seeking a **Biotechnology Supervisor for a Direct Hire opportunity in Durham, NC** who is accountable for driving results in a fast-paced environment by managing the daily activities of a group of scientists who perform a variety of tasks to include: method development/validation, impurity identification, routine and non-routine testing, cell-based potency assays, ELISA, real-time PCR, enzymatic activity assays, binding kinetic assays and other biochemical testing methods and characterization of pharmaceutical products in support of pharmaceutical product development or pharmaceutical manufacturing.



Essential Functions




+ Oversees Bioanalytical routine and non-routine testing in support of pharmaceutical product development or pharmaceutical manufacturing.

+ Works on method development/method validation projects including but not limited to, cell-based Bioassays and other biochemical testing methods. (Chromatography experience is a plus.)

+ Engages with clients and other internal partners within the organization.

+ Develops and executes strategies to improve productivity.

+ Develops and executes laboratory work plans/schedules independently, using customer milestones and division/site performance standards and metrics.

+ Reviews technical documents for accuracy, thoroughness and regulatory compliance.

+ Identifies, proposes and develops new solutions for operational efficiency.

+ Ensures timely completion and compliance with cGMP and all other relevant company training requirements.

+ Responsible for the selection, training and development, coaching/mentoring, engagement, retention and performance management of a high performing team to meet the current and evolving needs of the site.





Education and Experience




+ Bachelors degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related science with 5+ years of hands-on working experience in drug development and 2+ years in a supervisory role; OR

+ Masters degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related science with 3+ years of hands-on working experience in drug development and 2+ years in a supervisory role; OR

+ PhD with 1+ years of hands-on working experience and 2+ years in a management role.

+ Experience and functional working knowledge to support development, validation and troubleshooting ELISA-based methods, as well as challenging cell-based bioassay and other bioanalytical methods required.

+ Prior experience in a CDMO is preferred.

+ Prior experience in Pharmaceuticals/Biopharmaceuticals in a cGMP setting is required.

+ Chromatography experience is preferred.





Functional Competencies




+ Working knowledge of the biopharmaceutical industry is required.

+ Working knowledge of peptides, monoclonal antibodies, recombinant proteins, cell therapy and gene therapy is required.

+ Expert knowledge of Cell-based Bioassays required.

+ Working knowledge of Real-time PCR required.

+ Expert knowledge of ELISA/immunoassays required.

+ Working knowledge of Enzymatic Activity Assays preferred.

+ Working knowledge of Laboratory Documentation is preferred.

+ Working knowledge of cGMP in a pharmaceutical or regulated environment is required.

+ Excellent leadership and presentation skills.

+ Excellent skills in strategic planning, problem solving, root-cause analysis and critical thinking.

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

+ Strong trouble shooting skills.

+ Knowledge of pharmaceutical bioassay testing and quality principles in a cGMP environment.

+ Proficiency of basic computer skills and Microsoft Office programs.

+ Proficiency with electronic laboratory notebooks or similar platforms.
