Kelly Services is actively seeking a **Supplier Quality Development Engineer** for **Nissan** **at their** **Franklin, TN** **location** **.**

This is a **long-term indefinite contract opportunity** to join a great team!





SQDs job within APO Purchasing is to help secure a healthy supply base that will support achievement of Nissans Quality KPIs. To do this, SQD has the function to evaluate/qualify/improve suppliers for new business development as well as monitor/improve suppliers who have existing business. SQDs main focus for evaluation and improvement is on the suppliers quality systems and processes used at their manufacturing facilities. This opening is for an engineer who, based on commodity assignment, will work with various suppliers toward the accomplishment of Nissans quality objectives.





The expectations of the engineer being sought by this opening include:




+ Able to learn and deploy Nissan Quality System & Production Engineering Audits at suppliers to assure suppliers have established and maintained quality systems as well as products that meet Nissans quality standards.

+ Able to lead cross functional activity with the supplier and Nissan personnel to resolve systemic warranty and/or plant discrepant part issues (PPM) via technical analysis and deployment of Nissan Global SQD tools.

+ Becomes proficient in Nissan/Renault ANPQP (Nissan version of APQP) and able to lead suppliers and Nissan stakeholders on the proper procedures and processes to follow throughout the different phases of the vehicle development process.

+ Capable of organizing and leading quality meetings with top Nissan and supplier management.

+ Supports the Supplier Quality Development (SQD) department and Nissan quality objectives and targets by following and executing the SQD business plan.

+ Contributes to building Nissan/Infiniti brand value and achieving enduring profitable growth through continuous improvement in quality of the supply base.

+ Travels to suppliers and Nissan plants to support necessary improvement activity (Flexibility required to support planned and unplanned activity out of the office).

+ Establishes priority and action plans for incident investigation and reporting. Prepares field information and parts demand forecasts. Coordinates surveys and conducts investigative research. Identifies, investigates, and reports quality issues and field technical incidents. Prepares Technical Service Bulletins and provides technical assistance to other departments.

+ Analyzes and identifies engineering issues regarding warranty and durability incidents and seeks engineering countermeasures. Communicates product issues to management for countermeasure development. Distributes report results to appropriate design groups and tracks corrective action activities.





**JOB FUNCTIONS:**




+ Has SQD responsibility based on vehicle commodity assignment, thereby working with all existing and potential suppliers of those commodities. For suppliers related to new model production. Evaluates candidate suppliers capability in meeting Nissan North America quality targets. As needed, conducts on-site audits of candidate suppliers quality systems at their indicated site of part manufacture, per SQDs audit methods.

+ After suppliers are confirmed for new model business, develops quality improvement plans where needed to assure compliance with all quality requirements and design specifications.

+ Leads cross functional supplier and Nissan stakeholders in the creation, execution and successful completion of improvement plans. Validates improvement plan effectiveness via follow-up quality system audits.

+ For suppliers involved in current model production:

+ Takes responsibility for key supplier KPI improvement via application of Nissan global SQD tools and the organization/leading of cross-functional top management meetings between Nissan and the supplier.

+ Supports mitigation of risk created by supplier manufacturing site changes.





**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:**




+ Knowledge of the automotive manufacturing processes involved in one or more types of part fabrication, as well as a general knowledge of Nissan ANPQP or AIAG APQP quality systems. In depth technical understanding of automotive design and development processes, production, troubleshooting and maintenance.

+ 5 or more years of directly related professional-level engineering experience, preferably in process or manufacturing engineering and quality engineering with shop floor and assembly exposure.

+ Highly developed written skills which plainly capture technical concerns and their resolution. Proficient verbal skills which can be employed in leading / speaking in a variety of settings and to all levels of management.

+ Bachelors degree in a related Engineering discipline.

+ Approximately 10 - 25%, Between 25% and 50% day and overnight travel. Most travel is to US, Canada, and Mexico regions.
