Kelly Science is seeking a **Surgical Veterinary Technician** for a successful research hospital located in **Boston, MA.**
**Pay** : $34/hr
**Employment Type:** Contract (6 months)
**Summary:**
The Surgical Veterinary Technician will be working closely with the veterinarian to provide animal treatments as instructed and will be responsible for performing surgical technical duties to assist with surgical procedures.
**Job Duties Include:**
+ Perform technical functions required by research protocols, such as daily clinical observations, diagnostic testing, administering medications and health examinations of sick animals, prior to reporting adverse findings to Veterinarian responsible for that area.
+ Receipt of new animals- generating records and doing initial health assessments.
+ Recovery of post-operative animals
+ Provide anesthesia support to all surgical cases, including placement of IV catheters, intubation, and administration of anesthetic agents.
+ Maintain sterile ORs by cleaning and breaking down the OR at the end of cases.
+ Prepare the OR for cases, as well as, maintaining equipment and ensuring it is in proper working order.
**Qualifications:**
+ Bachelors degree in animal science or a related field required
+ Minimum of 2 years experience in veterinary technology
+ Minimum of AALAS certification at the Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician level
