Pay $18-19/hour (possibly higher DOE).


**Job Summary:**


+ Under minimal supervision open bales of fiber and feed fiber into production line, record fiber into the consumption fiber. Assist with line leadership with daily manpower and operational responsibilities as needed.


**Essential Job Functions:**


SAFETY:


+ Follow lockout procedures before doing any maintenance or removing a guard. Ensure all guards and tools are put back in place.


+ Perform daily housekeeping duties. Ensure a clean and clutter free work environment.

+ Ensure other team members are following safety rules.

+ Train line personnel in the proper and safe performance of their duties.


QUALITY:


+ Check the initial fiber quality during the opening process, (e.g. the bloom of the bale, crimps per inch)


+ Determine the proper fibers to use by reading the order and referring to a blend sheet.

+ Communicate with the Operator of the previous shift to understand what is currently being run.

+ Ensure the quality of the product being produced is good.

+ Make necessary corrections when product fails to meet quality standards.

+ Frequently inspect the finished product as it comes off the line for oil, grease, dirt, light or uneven places, or any other defects.

+ FR Ensure all timely quality specs are being performed, swatches are collected and labeled, and results are recorded.


OPERATIONS:


+ Assume shared responsibility for the general operations within the company and production on the assigned line.

+ Assist where needed in the general duties of team members, within the scope of position job description and direction from leadership and management.

+ Possess and train on the basic operations of the line.

+ Retrieve the proper bales of fiber from the storage location using a forklift with a bale clamp.


+ Cut wires or straps from bales. Dispose of bale straps and bale wraps properly.

+ Feed the fiber into hoppers or bale breakers in the proper percentages.

+ Cover Quality Operator and Manufacturing Team Member during their breaks.

+ Double check the employees at the front of the line to ensure that are properly performing their tasks.

+ Set the knives for the correct widths.

+ Assign and delegate duties to production line team members.

+ Assure that line personnel are being effectively utilized during periods of downtime by assigning them preventive maintenance projects, cleaning, housekeeping, or to another line or job.

+ Understand the information on the production schedule, including special instructions, or obtaining an adequate explanation if unclear.

+ Ensure the use of the proper product identification labels on each packaged product unless otherwise specified.


MACHINERY AND EQUIPMENT:


+ Checking the fiber blending area, web-forming equipment, and lappers for any production problems and reporting them to the Operator immediately.

+ Listen and watch the production line for any signs of machine trouble and report them to the Operator immediately.

+ Assist in preventive and other maintenance as required.

+ Assist in the preventative maintenance on the sides of the card and the blend line.
