**Job Title: Technical Writer**





**Pay: $45-50 per hour depending on experience**





Will be onsite and remote (will be a mix) throughout the pandemic. Once the pandemic is over, onsite will be TBD.





**Summary**

Learn about the companys current R&D portfolio and take on the role for creating hardware and software help for internal and external customers. In this function, you must have outstanding communication and technical writing skills, as well as be highly motivated to support a broad array of engineering, and new product development initiatives.





Will be creating manuals and will see the instrumentation and capture graphical images. Could be working on service-related documentation and customer facing documentation. Need to work well as a team. Will work with PKI instrument branding guidelines. Prefer someone who has at least 1 year of life science related industry experience, as this will be very technical documentation. Writers will be using FrameMaker, and CorelDraw, as well as MS Office suite. Office is required, next highest preference is FrameMaker, and next highest preference is RoboHelp. Jira/SharePoint, CorelDraw are preferred but not required. BA degree is required, prefer sciences related degree. Will be able to pull from some existing documentation for the manuals, but will create the majority of content from scratch, still using existing templates for this new instrumentation. Mid-level role 3-6 years of writing experience is appropriate for this role. Will consider a Writing degree, with experience in Life Sciences industries.




**Key Responsibilities** :

Works with global cross-functional teams including customers, project stakeholders, subject matter experts, service, and technical support throughout the product development lifecycle to design, plan, and develop a wide range of technical and end-user information products. Products may be for software, hardware, and service including technical guides, tutorials, and Web-based help systems to support new scientific instrumentation products.

Creates clear, concise, user and service documentation for both internal and external customers.

Researches, writes, proofreads, edits, and may translate end-user manuals and online help.

Adapts OEM documentation to fit company specifications.

Creates screen shots and illustrations using graphic tools. Takes digital photographs of Hardware for inclusion in guides and technical documentation.

Assists in the design of documentation templates and the development of groups tools. Maintains Technical Writing SOPs and templates.

Complies with documentation control practices and procedures.

Ensures documentation reflects current safety information.

Maintains files of the latest revision level documentation necessary to define product configuration and demonstrate full traceability.




**Qualifications/Education/Technical Skills** :

Degree in a Technical Communication or Science-related discipline with emphasis on Chemistry, Biology, Life Sciences, or Engineering.

Excellent communication, verbal, and written skills are critical.

Excellent team orientation is critical.

Life Science instrumentation and lab experience preferred.

Skills in Microsoft Office, Jira, SharePoint, FrameMaker, RoboHelp, and CorelDRAW preferred.





Samples preferred, but not required. If they have worked on manuals for scientific products, or customer facing manuals, or anything within Life Sciences.
