**Telecom/Network Engineer (Fiber)**

**Location** : Portland, OR (On-site/Field Based)

**Duration** : 12 monthsKelly Technology is currently recruiting for a Telecom/Network Engineer to help with a physical infrastructure count. The ideal candidate will understand how to read telecom schematics and drawings. Candidates should also have strong background with Fiber and Copper Infrastructure, construction, inspections and data entry/documentation.

Perform network designs of fiber and copper infrastructure, manage complex network projects with a focus on physical infrastructure, monitor, review, and coordinate design and construction. The projects include physical infrastructure components like fiber, copper, wireless as well as network endpoints like switches and cameras. This position collects data and performs analysis, field inspections, testing, preparation and review of test reports; reviews of drawings and electrical schematics; manages inventory and documentation of physical assets; develops processes to ensure all network activities are documented and updated in our Patch Manager database.



Manage complex projects and coordinate engineering services for communication system development and deployment.

Project management includes developing formal project plans, scope, timeline, costs, and implementation.

Maintain, manage and monitor physical infrastructure including fiber, UPS systems to include battery health, generators, comm rooms and communication cabinets.

Coordinate civil and systems engineering and construction matters for contractors, utilities, and other public/private agencies. Assist with establishing formal agreements with various outside agencies.

Evaluate the functional feasibility, design, and reliability of various communication systems, equipment, and hardware associated with the existing and future systems. Coordinate with other Tri-Met engineers, staff and consultants to ensure compliance with company standards and reliability expectations.

Create, oversee, and manage vendor contracts, invoices, and purchase orders in connection with agency projects and initiatives. Identify and develop budgets on aging physical infrastructure and UPS equipment.

Monitor construction activities to assure contractual compliance. Perform field measurements and calculations to verify quantities and quality of completed work. Assist with contracts administration for management of construction contracts. Work with our PMO team to ensure standards are up to date and meet changing company expectations.


Bachelor's Degree Computer Science or Network Communications Technology

Experience in an area directly applicable to systems design, inspection, or construction management of communication infrastructure.

Experience supporting communication infrastructure for rail transportation projects or similar job functions.

Experience in field data collection and data entry software.

Patch Manager database experience highly desired but not required

Possession of, or the ability to acquire, a valid Oregon or Washington Drivers License required

Demonstrated knowledge of low voltage engineering principles and practices.

Demonstrate knowledge of fiber optics & copper networks with the ability to install and maintain these systems.

Ability to perform CCTV installations and maintenance.

Ability to effectively communicate both in oral and written form.

Ability to effectively coordinate activities with other jurisdictions, consultants, utility companies, and TriMet staff.

Ability to read, interpret, and prepare engineering plans, specifications, and drawings.

Ability to perform engineering calculations, and analyze and present quantitative data and draw and document conclusions from such.
