Our Hillsboro site produces world-class electron microscopes used by scientists and engineers to drive innovation around the globe. This role works collaboratively to produce-high quality components used in the worlds finest microscopes used by scientists like Nobel prize winners and researchers who imaged the COVID-19 virus


**How will you make an impact?**


The position is ideal for a candidate prepared to lead a meaningful role within the Company. The Trade Compliance Manager ensures alignment with all international trade laws and regulations. It involves a combination of innovation, routine work, and management. The successful candidate will resolve and assign Export and Import information, process export license applications, transfer tasks, generate reports and metrics, and resolve process issues to ensure global standardization of product data and processes within the company. In addition, this person will lead multiple MSD North America sites in relation to daily operational issues.


**What will you do?**


+ Export license determination and application submission using SNAP-R

+ Provide leadership to Trade Compliance team of 4

+ Support team goals and objectives

+ Ensure process for accurate screening and review of transaction entities, including denied and restricted party screening.

+ Audit accurate HTS classification, ECCN, valuation, marking, and country of origin of imported and exported merchandise.

+ Run Foreign Visitor process and Visa Invitation Letters

+ Carry out compliance with Customs regulations, and all government agencies; maintain compliance databases

+ Investigate accurate use of duty preference programs including Free Trade Agreements.

+ Research, providing guidance, and responding to Customs and Export compliance questions from various company departments and divisions

+ Serve as contact on Customs entry discrepancy resolution and to ensure timely processing of entries

+ Build and maintain delivery of internal training programs

+ Assist in the review, development, implementation, and regular update of Trade Compliance work instructions and procedures

+ Resolve discrepancies, request appropriate corrections, reconcile or protest as appropriate; verify valuation methodology including assists, royalties and post-entry amendments.

+ Audit export transactions for compliance with U.S. Export Control Regulations.

+ Find opportunities for duty refunds and cost savings including but not limited to classification, valuation, trade programs, and duty drawback.

+ Generate compliance metrics for reporting within the department and to management

+ Provide leadership and ensure day-to-day monitoring import and export requirements of the business unit.

+ Perform other compliance related duties including, supply chain security, export compliance, and performing audits

+ Interact effectively with multiple functional areas including management, supply chain, distribution, engineering, finance, IT and legal.


**How will you get here?**


College degree preferred; 5-10 years related international trade compliance


+ 3-7 years of leadership experience required

+ Strong Export License, ECCN classification, and (EAR) expertise.


+ Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio)

+ Ability to work with multiple sites in different regional locations
