Starting payrate: $19.00/hr.


Hours: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (1/2 lunch)


Job Description


Reports to Underwriting Assistant Lead


The Underwriting Support Specialist (USS) will provide support services to the policy services and underwriting departments. Under the supervision of a department manager and associated team members, the Tech receives, evaluates and processes electronic files and other data sources into the applicable computer systems. The USS will comply with all policy and procedural requirements.

Primary Responsibilities: This position provides a variety of administrative, data entry and information processing services revolving around the support to the policy services and underwriting operations and provides excellent customer service to both internal and external clients.


Policy Services


Process policy data and documents, maintain spreadsheets if required


Underwriting


Distributes electronic files and documents onto server storage, policy management system, document management system or other appropriate locations.


Paper Correspondence


Processes Paper Correspondence within Company standard:


o Scans paper documents.


o Files documents in document management system.


Policy Services and Underwriting Procedures


Understands and adheres to Company policy services and underwriting procedures.


Files all documents in the document management system and where appropriate.


Provides Quality Assurance on a monthly basis to including without limitation, merging electronic and paper files onto the server and document management system, when applicable.


Understands the functionality of all policy services and underwriting systems (automated and manual) and utilizes these systems as required.


Project Participation


Participates in policy services and underwriting and/or company projects as assigned. Teamwork


Works collaboratively internally and externally to achieve Company goals.


Provides input and feedback to Policy Services and Underwriting team members and managers for continuous process improvement.


Fills in for other team members to ensure business continuity during peak periods and/or when team members are unavailable.


Takes initiative in advancing ideas and recommendations for continuous improvement

Work Experience


Minimum 3 years or the equivalent of professional administrative and customer service work experience directly relating to workers compensation insurance or any other insurance related operation.


Prior Underwriting Assistant (or equivalent) experience preferred


Education


High school diploma preferred


No degree required but FL4-40 license preferred


Computer Skills


Experience utilizing the ecertsonline certificate system preferred.


Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel format.


Ability to quickly review, discern, sort and process a high volume of Excel files into policy management system.


Excellent written/email communication skills that exhibit a high degree of accuracy.
