**E1 Validation Engineer**

**Folsom, CA (onsite)**

**Long-term ongoing project**

**Pay: $45/hr W2**

*Must have strong Python scripting skills, as the job function will rely heavily on automation.

The Validation Engineer is responsible for validating the power and performance of our clients industry-leading SATA and PCIE Solid State Drives for both Client and Enterprise. The successful candidate will work closely within the architecture team, system Integrator, hardware, firmware, and driver development teams. The candidate should have strong problem-solving skills, and strong communication skills. Performance validation can sometimes be more of an art than a science, so we are looking for people comfortable with ambiguity and the ability to make sense out of chaos. The candidate should be interested in getting an understanding of platform architecture and general knowledge of computer system design. Specifically, the will to seek and understand OS/software stack, SSD architecture, microprocessors, memory subsystems, and bus interfaces.

Additional Job Responsibilities include:

+ Working closely with FW engineers/System Integrators in finding the root cause for failures.

+ Working closely with Validation leads to come up with test plan and test processes for new products and features.

+ Architecting test strategy and working with development team to automate these tests.

+ Analyze results, generate indicators and communicate status updates.

+ Autonomously plans and schedules own daily tasks, develops solutions to problems utilizing formal education and judgment.

+ Generate/edit scripts to automate tests in all areas.

+ Provide leadership, procedural expertise, relevant technical knowledge and training to teammates within the assigned tasks.

+ Complete ambiguous multi-component tasks with little/no direction (significant development & debug tasks).

+ Interface directly with debug and/or development teams to resolve low-level issues.

+ Provide validation support for technicians and engineers, do initial triaging of bugs and issues, provide reports to engineers.

+ Create test scripts using standard scripting languages to improve test cycle efficiency.

+ Document and Communicate generated results.

+ Track and organize multiple analysis requests from multiple people.

+ Apply knowledge of SSD firmware to facilitate validation process.

+ Requires no supervision/direction within assigned tasks.

+ Able to execute end-to-end on defined requests and participate in execution of ambiguous requests.

+ Able to produce trusted results.

+ Proficient in all debug areas pertaining to them and directs debug flow.

+ Takes initiative for next steps.

+ Follows test procedures, capable of suggesting corrections globally.


+ Must have strong Python scripting skills.

+ Must have strong automation experience.

+ Strong use of different versions of Windows and Linux in a validation environment (CLI experience).

+ Very familiar with building systems (client and servers) at the hardware level (installing racks, etc.).

+ SCRUM methodology knowledge (Preferred skills).

+ Understand BIOS, Drivers, Kernels, installing OSs and using event logs and other debugging tools.

+ Very strong at system level and hardware troubleshooting.

+ Use of Microsoft office suite applications (Word, EXCEL, Outlook etc.).

Preferred Experience:

+ Highly preferred: Bachelor or Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science.

+ Experience in validation with strong debug skills.

+ Experience in handling and taking measurements using DC Power analyzers.

+ Healthy sense of paranoia for bugs and a strong sense of quality.

+ Familiar with customer storage usage models for client and or data center.

+ SAS, SATA, PCIe and/or NVMe storage protocol experience is a plus.

+ Excellent ability to logically organize and clearly present experimental data is a must. (Preferred skills).
