Kelly Engineering is currently recruiting for a **Value Design Engineer** whose primary responsibility is to drive projects that result in product and productivity cost improvements by utilizing VA/VE Value Analysis/Value Engineering methodologies. You will focus on changes to product or process that will bring about a reduction of current product costs and improve product margins while ensuring that the value to the customer is maintained or improved. Product focus will be mainly on plastic products including injection molded and extruded. Your primary functions will be:

+ Use accepted Value Engineering/Value Analysis methods and tools to evaluate, cost, measure and implement process and product improvements for extruded plastics.

+ Facilitate VA/VE workshops and brainstorming sessions.

+ Analyze and prioritize the opportunities for cost savings and product/process improvements.

+ Work with cross functional teams including Sourcing, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Sales and Customers to execute projects from start to production

+ Optimize components and product designs for performance, cost, standardization and manufacturability. Work with Sourcing to resolve issues with existing suppliers and approve new suppliers.

+ Provide cost estimates for process and product improvements. Help establish cost targets and assist with tracking project cost.

+ Challenge existing processes, systems and procedures, while searching for more effective solutions.

+ Manage and track various ideas, projects, and programs from ideation to implementation.

+ Investigates pertinent design factors such as manufacturing capability, suitable materials, and interchangeability of components, cost, strength-weight efficiency, and Intellectual Property.

+ Give engineering guidance to the sales team, customers and internal stakeholders in the development of products, design reviews, material specifications, process specifications, VA/VE

+ Develop relationships across the organization and guide a cross-functional team to present and implement decisions for factory efficiency enhancements.

+ Give engineering support to the factory, clarifying all concerns regarding prints, BOM, and overall customer requirements.

+ Draft and implementing standard work for design and manufacturing processes.

+ Calculate and track annualized cost savings and ROI and report out on project progress timelines.

+ Creates solid models and part prints using 3D/2D CAD Solidworks/AutoCad.

+ Provide sustaining engineering support to existing products including VAVE, quality, and product improvements.

+ Provide technical support to both internal and external customers as needed.

+ Work in cross functional teams to achieve company s goals and objectives.

**Qualified candidates will have the following education/experience to be considered:**

+ **BS or Associates Degree in Engineering or related field.**

**Minimum of +5 plus years of work experience in product design or manufacturing engineering in a team-based environment.**

**Solid experience in Plastic product design/manufacturing in injection molding and extruding.**

**Experience with 3D/2D CAD - Solidworks/AutoCAD**

+ **Must have experience working on VAVE projects from concept development through final release.**

+ **Familiarity with different manufacturing processes and material types with heavy emphasis on plastics** .

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work well with others.

+ Proficiency with MS Office Suite.

+ Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

+ Able to work under tight time constraints and handle last minute interruptions.

+ Must be able to manage multiple tasks

+ **Must be able to travel 15-20% domestically and internationally**
