Description and Requirements

The Vice President, Project Management will report to the General Manager and be a member of the Leadership Team.  He/she will oversee initiative implementation, drive operational excellence, ensure the General Managers strategy is implemented, recommend and implement continuous improvement, and develop a road map for implementation and change. This position will oversee the Project Management and Site Management groups and their processes to ensure all systems are in place to deliver at the highest level of quality and service to clients.  This role will own the coordination, interaction and coordination of processes, including efficient communication flows of the Project Management and Site Management groups and the rest of the organization.


  • Day to day management of the global Project Management and Site Management organizations.
  • Ensure the team is engaged, motivated and understands the vision. High performers and high potentials are identified and rewarded.  Create training and development programs that ensure employees have broad skills to enable the organization to meet fluctuations in business demand, and generally reduce workforce attrition.
  • Implement performance metrics such as a reduction in turnaround time, assess work processes, and determine where improvements can be made and how to achieve them.
  • Continually benchmark the performance of competitors and understand trends in the marketplace.
  • Lead all operational activities, tasks and service to clients to ensure service is being met or exceeded within company standards.
  • Establish and maintain open line of communication with existing clients soliciting real time feedback on overall company performance relaying their issues and/or concerns to appropriate staff to ensure effective resolution and to exceed expectations.
  • Work closely with Business Development and Finance department metrics, employing this information to ensure client promises are upheld.
  • Responsible for establishment of and adherence to budgets. Monitor project status, volume, revenue, expenses, and identify and resolve problems and recommend solutions.
  • Develop and manage existing clients by offering a personal touch through periodic face to face interaction and point of contact to exceed expectation of client base to eventually attain growth via referrals.
  • This role may require up 40% travel which may be domestic or international, including overnight and weekend stays as necessary, consistent with project needs and office location.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The position will require the individual to be responsible for the management, direction, coordination, performance, and evaluation of an assigned team and staff. Responsibilities may include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


  • Bachelors degree in a relevant field required.

  • Minimum of 10 years in the clinical research arena. 

  • Must have an outstanding record of achievement; especially in helping lead and streamline a business. 

  • Experience in having managed sizable and high volume operations leading a team of significant size; and demonstrating excellent management skills with the ability to inspire and engage others required. 

  • Demonstrated leadership in helping to drive change, especially around efficiency and effectiveness measures.

  • Excellent project management skills needed. 

  • Continually strives for improvement in the business, in others and self. 

  • Strong communicator in all formats with the ability to use their own initiative to solve problems while being calm in a crisis needed.Must be experienced with meeting/exceeding the various expectations of multiple clients simultaneously and continuously focused on providing superior client service.

  • Able to challenge current thinking and gain credibility with internal and external stakeholders.
