_Kelly Engineering Resources is seeking a Vice President of Engineering to join a reputable hardware manufacturer in Rochester, NY._

In this position the candidate will be responsible for managing the mechanical, electronics/automation, and test engineering team. The VP of Engineering is responsible for product development to meet all project goals including internal objectives and customer requirements, test, and validation of operating and industry specifications. The successful candidate should possess a thorough understanding of mechanical and electronic hardware development methods, software & application development, test & QA assurance processes and challenges to ensure a quality design and reliability. The VP of Engineering reports to the President.

**Primary Responsibilities:**

+ Manage a team of engineers

+ Functional and project management for the development of products in the door and window automation space.

+ Perform project planning (cost, schedule, and resources), tracking and oversight activities.

+ Report project and organizational status.

+ Management of the entire product implementation cycle including requirements analysis, high level and detailed design, implementation, testing, integration, documentation, government certification and introduction to production and support.

+ Management of project execution to meet established budget, schedule, and scope.

+ Management of staffing allocations against defined engineering resource demands.

+ Work with a cross functional team that includes product design engineering, test engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, logistics engineering teams, product and program management and other groups such as independent contractors as needed.

+ Ensure the conversion of customer requirements, into total systems solutions that balance technical,

+ Experience in electronic design, board layout, circuit design, simulation, debug and testing.

+ Experience in electronic and microcontroller design.

+ schedule and development cost constraints and meet quality and product cost goals.

+ Mechanical and electrical system power management

+ Wireless and wired communication applications

+ Experience with motor controls.

+ Experience with the design, implementation and operation of IoT technology from device hardware and software to connectivity to data aggregation and to integration with a cloud platform and applications.

+ Experience and knowledge of IoT device security.

+ Qualify products and systems to regulatory standards via nationally-recognized testing labs

+ Regulatory experience including FCC, ETSI, UL, CSA, and CE.

+ Manage preparation of all design specifications, documents and forms necessary to transfer products to manufacturing.

+ Understanding of the complete software development lifecycle including understanding requirements gathering, software design, software design review, implementation, code review, unit testing, bench testing, automated testing, field testing, documentation, issue tracking, issue resolution and field deployment.

+ Demonstrated understanding of mechanical engineering and physics with the ability to apply to system modeling and /or programming.

**Minimum Qualifications:**

+ 10-15 years experience relevant experience

+ BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (experience with both preferred) or Mechatronics\Robotics Engineering

+ Experience in senior leadership of a diverse engineering team

+ Demonstrated ability to successfully work with multiple non-technical employee groups (sales, purchasing, )

+ Effective communication skills (verbal and written) across a broad network of people (customers, management, peers, support staff)

+ Product development from concept to production, manufacturing introduction and fault analysis/midigation.

**Highly Preferred Skills:**

+ Mechanical and electromechanical Design

+ PCBA/Electronics and Software Design

+ Metal and Polymer based 3D printing

+ Metallurgy

+ Intellectual property and patent management

+ Proficient in use of MS Office Suite including MS Project of equivalent

+ Advanced Excel (VBA)

+ Electrical circuit Design Tools

+ 3D CAD Skills, SolidWorks
