Kelly Services is now hiring for Temp-to-Hire Material Handlers for the Marietta OK and surrounding areas. As a material handler, you will facilitate moving product throughout a distribution center by working areas dealing with handling of material. Your responsibilities will include making sure our assets are in perfect condition to sell to our customers while contributing to a safe and clean work environment. The responsibilities listed below are encompassing of a material handler but may vary by departmental assignment


Essential Functions

-Pick merchandise from designated areas to fulfill customer and store orders

-Use of an RF Scanner to read bar codes and process merchandise by moving it to proper areas

-Fulfillment of customer orders by packing and shipping product to customers

-Bundles create product bundles by picking and packing individual products into larger packages

-Maintain a clean work area by removing empty pallets, sweeping and cleaning up boxes and other debris.

-Perform other duties as apparent or assigned.

-Reading

-Reads and comprehend non complex written materials to include rules, directions, methods and policies/procedures.

-Writing

-Write in the form of non complex sentences with proper punctuation, normal word order, and simplistic grammar to complete forms and prepare simple written pieces to include comments, statements, and explanations.

-Perform basic arithmetic which involves addition and subtraction to compute measurements and perform operations involving all American monetary units.

Other requirements of the job include the ability to: Enter data into a computer terminal; Record and/or verify data; Work on several tasks at one time; Understand and carry out oral instructions; Memorize and retain information/instructions; Prioritize work assignments; Maintain working relationships with co-workers; Concentrate and pay close attention to detail; Function with a limited amount of supervision; Remain calm and collect and diplomatically handle sensitive situations/problems; Analyze situations, identify and troubleshoot problems and recommend solutions; Work as a member of a team; Think clearly and make decisions under regular or constant time deadlines; Function under intense time pressure; Work a flexible work schedule that may include evenings, and weekends; Be in attendance at work location on a regular basis.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

-Completion of high school education or equivalent preferred.


EQUIPMENT USED

-This job requires the ability to utilize the following: Use of walkie-talkies, RF hand held scanner and basic office supplies.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

-Occasionally carrying, pushing, pulling and or lifting weight of up to 40 pounds.

-Physical movements of the job include standing and/or walking; climbing, stooping, kneeling, twisting, crawling, reaching and/or talking

-Repetitive movements of the job include both feet and/or fine hand manipulation; Firm hand grasping and simple hand grasping

-Work Environment

-Environmental conditions for the job include exposure to extreme hot, extreme cold and/or wet/humidity on an infrequent basis; Exposure to dirt/dust and noise on an hourly basis.

-Potentially hazardous conditions for the job include exposure to moving objects/vehicles on an hourly basis.

-Requires the ability to work flexible hours and at times may require overtime.
