**Job Description**


Function:

The primary responsibility of the Web Developer is the continued development of our public-facing web properties to execute on the organization-s fundraising and marketing strategy. Assignments include tasks from all areas of the development life-cycle and all deliverables should be timely and cost-effective. This position is part of the Web Development team and may be assigned various tasks as requested by other teams in the Marketing and Resource Development (MRD) Division.

RESPONSIBILITIES

(including approximate percentage effort) DELIVERABLES


Responsible for the development, maintenance, and integrity of the website and other digital properties. (75%)

1. Utilize PHP, HTML, CSS, and JQuery to write and edit well-designed, testable, efficient code that conforms to W3C standards for application development and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1.

2. Maintain and update existing website codebase to meet the security and functionality standards as outlined by Heifer-s PCI Compliance policies.

3. Update website content using the organization-s content management system (CMS).

4. Verify, debug and fix issues reported by other departments or outside sources.

5. Monitor the performance of the website using approved tools and methods.

6. Maintain a working integrated development environment.

7. Test and troubleshoot new website features according to specified business rules to ensure functionality.

8. Maintain databases that interface with the ecommerce and reporting modules of the website.


Properly manage priorities and workload to align with current project plan. (15%)

1. Communicate daily with Digital Production Manager to provide updates on assigned work and to clarify priorities and technical approach to the work.

2. Participate in team meetings to review and prioritize work on a daily basis.

3. Meet with other teams as needed to discuss requests and issues.

4. Track progress on assigned tasks within internal tracking system.

5. Understand functional requirements and translate them into technical design and develop supporting documentation.


Perform other duties as assigned (10%)

1. Constant face-to-face, telephone and electronic communication with colleagues.

2. Clear conceptualization and ability to logically identify and reason through issues/problems, make effective decisions and develop alternative solutions.

3. Managing multiple tasks individually while under a full workload and tight deadlines.

4. Ability to present technical information in user-friendly language.

5. May require constant sitting and moving; working at a computer for extended periods.

6. Ability to function independently utilizing self-direction with moderate supervision.

7. Willingness and ability to occasionally work outside of normal business hours.

8. Working with sensitive information and maintaining confidentiality.


**Requirements**


Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor-s degree in computer science, web development, or related field plus two (2) years of related experience.

OR

High school/general educational development diploma plus six (6) years of related experience.


Preferred Requirements:

1. Demonstrated competency with CSS, HTML, PHP, MySQL and jQuery.

2. Experience editing and writing code for the core/themes/plugins for a web CMS such as WordPress or Drupal.

3. Experience with web design software packages such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

4. Experience using a version control system such as Git or Bitbucket.


Most Critical Proficiencies:

1. Working knowledge of object-oriented design principles.

2. Knowledge of quality assurance methodologies.

3. Familiarity with principles of website usability and design.

4. Must be knowledgeable of release cycles, continuous integration, and deployment processes.

5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

6. Ability to maintain focus for long periods of time.

7. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

8. Experience in collaborating with vendors on project deliverables.
