Kelly Services is now hiring for a Manufacturing company that is growing and seeking Welders to add to their successful team! If you have at least 2-7 years of welding/fabricating experience we want to speak with you! Submit your resume today for immediate consideration! First shift hours are 6:00 am to 3:30 pm.

- Fit and Weld equipment from structural steel using blueprints and detailed engineering drawings in a face pace environment to support customer satisfaction, manufacturing & sales.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Have required tools.

- Understand and practice company safety polices.

- Understand and practice company material traceability procedures.

- Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.

- Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.

- All welders shall wear appropriate welding hoods and company issued PPE at all times when welding.

- Ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded, completing electrical circuits.

- Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.

- Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors.

- Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, shielded metal arc.

- Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.

- Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces for straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.

- Recognize, set-up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.

- Lay-out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges combination squares, calipers, and rulers.

- Position, align, fit, and weld parts to form complete units or subnits, following blueprints and layout specifications, and using jogs, welding torches, and hand tools.

- Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications, using squares, rulers, and measuring tapes.

- Tack-weld fitted parts together.

- Lay-out and examine metal stock or work pieces to be processed to ensure that specifications are met.

- Cut and prepare material.

- Debur and identify material.

- Align and fit parts according to specifications, using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers.

- Locate and mark work piece bending and cutting lines, allowing for stocking thickness, machine and welding shrinkage, and other component specifications.

- Position or tighten braces, jacks, clamps, ropes, or bolt straps in position for welding or riveting.

- Study engineering drawings and blueprints to determine materials requirements and task sequences.

- Move parts into position, manually or with hoists or cranes.

- Set up and operate fabricating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, grinders, and drill presses, to bend, cut, form, punch, drill, or otherwise form and assemble metal components.

- Blow Torches - Motorized cutting torches; Pattern cutting torches; Welding torches

- Gas welding or brazing or cutting apparatus - Brazing equipment; Heliarc welding equipment; Oxyacetylene welding equipment; Portable gas operated arc welders

- Manlift or personnel lift - Hydraulic truck lifts; Swing stages

- Welding masks - Hand shields; Welding shields

- Welding tools - Rod ovens; Storage ovens and hot boxes; Welding guns

- Workshop presses - Brakes; Portable magnetic drill presses; Punch presses

- Gauges or inspection fixtures - Dial indicators; sine bars; surface gauges

- Power saws - Cutoff saws; power hacksaws; Radial arm saws

- Punches or nail sets or drifts - Center punches; drift pins; punches

- Shears - Beverly shears; hand shears; uni-shears

- Reads and understands basic blueprints and shop drawings.

- Knowledge of different types of welds.

- Knowledge of weld symbols.

- Skilled at safe operation of overhead crane and forklift.

- Knowledge of proper tack welding procedures.

- Ability to fit material according to drawings in a reasonable amount of time.

- Ability to work assigned helpers to expedite the fitting process.

QUALIFICATIONS / PRIOR EXPERIENCE:

- High School Diploma or equivalent

- Must have 2 - 7 years welding experience

- Certified welder a plus

- Experience with mag particle or die penetrant inspections a plus

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work performed in a non- climate controlled facility with moderate noise levels that are within OSHA limits

- Must be able to lift 25 - 50 lbs.

- Must be able to walk, talk, sit, stand, and communicate verbally continuously throughout an 8 hour period
