**Job Skills/Requirements**
**Essential Functions:**
The welder performs multiple kinds of welding, brazing and cutting using gas and electric welding equipment in accordance with ASME and AWS standards.
1. Plans details of working procedures and tools and material requirements.
2. Fabricates equipment by cutting, burning and welding various metals. Repairs equipment by using appropriate welding techniques and welding equipment.
3. Set up, assembles and tacks weld parts. Examines defects, analyzes root clause and recommends corrective action.
4. Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly. Uses hoists, forklift truck, mobile or overhead cranes, rollers or trolleys to move equipment. Frequently works with production, electrical and maintenance teams in completion of mob tasks.
5. Identifies unsafe or potentially dangerous systems, communicates the issues, and takes corrective action to reduce assets and resource losses.
6. Wears appropriate Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) as required by applicable OSHA and internal rules. Keep his/her assigned work area and equipment clean. Employee must work in a safe manner and follow all pertinent safety standards.

• Able to meet the physical demands of the job. This position requires physical work, handling equipment, motors, shafts, stair climbing, etc.

• Shall be self-motivated and willing to work as a team

• Review the job package and check if work can be carried out safely and according to the job package.

• Obtain a work permit as required.

• Perform the task for the job package

• Complete the work and return equipment to operations

• Assist in the analysis to ensure the problem is corrected

• Apply the skills of respective trade/craft/discipline in executing maintenance work

• Leverage trade skills to apprentice and other maintenance associates

• Assist in the development of Maintenance Work Procedures

• Follow the Global Maintenance Work Process

• Document/record history of maintenance in SAP

• • Assist in maintenance planning

• Follows standard work procedures where available

EQUIPMENT OPERATED:

• Precision measuring equipment like micrometers, calipers, depth gauges, familiarity with optic and/or laser alignment techniques, overhead cranes, carry deck, fork truck, aerial lift.

SAFETY:

• Safe work permitting

• Red tag master

• Lead/participate in daily safety meetings
**Required Qualifications:**
- Certificate of completion from technical trade school in welding or welding certification
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in an industrial maintenance environment.

- This position requires the possibility of working overtime and call-ins to cover the 24/7 operation.
- Must be able to lift and carry 40 pounds while climbing stairs.
- Must be able to work at heights and in extreme high temperature environment.
- Must possess good oral and written communicate skills.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required.
• Able to work the occasional off-hour and weekend shifts to support plant outages and unplanned events. Must be able to work shift work if assigned to a shift position

• Strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to communicate well, verbally and in writing, and have strong reading comprehension and listening skills.

• Good interpersonal skills are required

• Strong work ethic.

• Able to work in inclement weather

• Work in area powered by 20 megawatt arc furnaces where molten metal is processed.

Must be able to hear and see alarms and visually inspect equipment

• Work in areas that are somewhat uncomfortable due to draft, noise, temperature variations, or the like.

• Work in areas that are very unpleasant because of extreme temperatures, noise levels, odors, dust or other conditions.

• Ability to determine full range of colors in work areas, drawings, and mapping.

• Ability to move about commercial properties and construction sites, through tight passageways and corridors. On feet throughout start-up process.

• Able to pass medical examination for full-face respirator use.
**Desired Qualifications**
- Prefer 2-4 years’ experience using SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, processes.
- Experienced in aluminum welding.
- 2 years industrial maintenance experience.
- Relevant military training and experience acceptable.

**Certification Requirements**
– Certificate of completion from technical trade school in welding.

**Education Requirements**
– High School Diploma
– GED
